Our Story

Every name has a story; ours is no exception.

Our name is a tribute to a mother and daughter, bonded by their discerning eye for detail, impeccable taste, love of travel, and insatiable calling to explore the world together.

Debbie Pearlman was born on February 14th, Valentine’s Day, a date that suited her personality quite well.

She had the uncanny ability to uncover “the best” of everything. The right hotel. The perfect restaurant for the occasion. The hidden gem she’d long known of before the masses caught on. She always seemed to know where to go, who to call, and how she genuinely wanted to spend her time.

Growing up, Debbie’s daughter, and our founder, Alexis Sorkenn, was (and still is) affectionately known as “Pearl.” And long before she knew she’d have a career in travel, her first, and most loyal, client was her mom, of course.

The values that have shaped 14Pearl are rooted in Debbie’s zest and appreciation for life, and carried on by Alexis: Curiosity about the world, and a belief that the best experiences are rarely found by accident.

14Pearl is dedicated to where this journey began, and the person who inspired it. Now, the legacy continues.
